PRESS RELEASE Step Forward: Kazakhstan Ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
ASTANA, 15 May 2015 The representatives of Government RK, Parliament RK, diplomatic missions, international organizations, and organizations of persons with disabilities will take part in the International Conference on Ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by the Republic of Kazakhstan: Towards Positive Changes
The participants will discuss main avenues of realization of national disability policy, issues related to realization and monitoring of the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as will develop recommendations on formation of strategy for further development in the light of the recent ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The event will serve as a platform to exchange best international and Central Asian experience on ensuring quality of life for persons with disabilities. The preliminary findings of the research on situation regarding realization of the rights of persons with disabilities to employment, education and participation at decision making levels will be presented during the event.
The Conference is held by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Development RK, Central Asian Disability Forum in partnership with Program on Development Through Regional Cooperation of the Civil Society Development Association ARGO and Soros Foundation Kazakhstan.
As a result of the Conference the resolution with recommendation on realization of rights of persons with disabilities to education, employment and participation at decision making levels will be adopted by the attendees.
